Farm Yard Party

Caitlin’s love of animals made it an easy decision to celebrate her 8th birthday with a farmyard party theme.

Discussing with Caitlin who she would like at her party, but also what activities and food she wanted, was a fun and funny experience with a 7 year old soon to be 8!

The petting zoo from Jamieson’s Run was perfect to help Caitlin celebrate her birthday with her family and friends. The staff from Jamieson’s Run were great with the animals and also the children. At times there were as many adults in with the animals as children.

What is a party without cake! Caitlin requested a vanilla rainbow cake with the decorations being a couple of farm animals on top with their own little party hats. Very cute, simple and minimal expense.

The party food was exactly that, Party Food. We had the standard sausage rolls, party pies, fairy bread, chocolate crackles, honey joys and fruit platter. We tried to add some labels to each of the food items to associate it to the Farm theme. To add a little bit of farm feel we also severed up warm apple crumble and ice-cream for desert.

The invites, banners, bunting and decorations where made by us. The swirl hanging decorations, were actually Frozen themed (in the clearance box at Big W), we just printed out new images to match the Farmyard theme and replaced the Frozen ones.

For something different we decided to make little milk cartons for the lolly bags. We customised the milk carton template so that it matched the invitation and all other decorations. The carton contained a couple of chocolates and lollies (flying pigs, milk bottles), stickers, bubbles and a (reusable) straw. We wanted to make sure that what we placed in the milk carton was all of Caitlin’s favourite things!

All the children seemed to enjoy the party and so did the adults. But most of all Caitlin had a great time!
